Open this page in Chrome on your personal laptop, tap Start Conversation once, and allow the microphone. After that you just talk: pause when you finish a thought, Ice answers out loud, and listening starts again on its own. Keep this laptop separate from your work laptop, dock, and work screens.
Conversation One tap to start. Then hands-free, turn by turn.

Microphone not working? Fix steps
Make sure this page is open as its own tab in Chrome on the personal laptop — not inside another app window.
Click the lock / tune icon at the left of Chrome's address bar, open Site settings, and set Microphone to Allow.
In Windows: Settings → Privacy & security → Microphone. Turn on Microphone access, Let apps access your microphone, and Let desktop apps access your microphone (Chrome counts as a desktop app).
In Windows: Settings → System → Sound → Input. Pick the laptop's internal mic and talk — the input bar should move. If it stays flat, check for a mic mute key (often F4 with a mic icon) and close apps that may hold the mic, like Teams or Zoom.
Come back here and tap Reload page — Chrome only applies an unblock after a reload.

Laptop setup — once
Personal laptop only. Never the work laptop, work dock, or work screens.
Put it on a desk or nightstand, lid open, vents clear, mic facing the room. Not under the bed — heat, dust, and muffled sound.
Plugged into the wall. In Windows power settings while plugged in: Sleep → Never, screen off after 5 minutes. The screen is the big power draw; the conversation keeps working with it off.
This page stays open in Chrome, in front. Bookmark it in Chrome for a one-click morning open.
No mouse jiggler needed — the Never setting does the job.
Turning it off
Tap Stop (or close this tab) so the mic is off.
Normal end of day: close the lid. It sleeps at almost zero power. Tomorrow: open lid, tap Start once.
Away for days: Start menu → Power → Shut down. Fully off, zero draw.
Don't yank the plug as an off switch — unplugged it keeps running on battery and dies hours later.
Shutting this laptop down does not shut Ice down. Work continues in the background; when you start again, ask “what happened while I was away?”

Estimate only — your real rate is on your bill. Screen-off time lowers the draw toward the low end.
